The Alford Wheelers

The Alford Wheelers in its present form was established in 1952 and has been active in all branches of the sport ever since.

They have a large well used clubroom in the centre of town which has been occupied for the last 36 years. This former furniture warehouse belonging to Easton’s was turned (with a lot of hard work) into the headquarters. They have snooker, pool and table tennis tables, darts and a coffee bar on the ground floor and upstairs, weight training and a committee meeting room.

The club has benefited greatly from these facilities and has membership of between 70 and 80 with ages ranging from 12 to 70 and over.

The clubroom is open every Thursday evening from 7.30 p.m. If you are interested in cycling (in any of its formats) you are welcome to call in for a coffee and a chat.

You will find the club on Windmill Lane/Carr Lane, Alford.

We organise a season long 10 mile time trial league which is worked on a handicap basis so that everybody has an equal chance.

The club also promotes two open time trials, three open road races and a cyclo-cross annually, as-well as a very popular Audax.

Members compete regularly in open events all over the county and beyond.

Affiliated to: B.C.; C.T.T.; L.R.R.A.; L.V.R.C.; T.L.I.; Audax UK.

Alford Town Football Club aims to offer adults and children a positive football experience, providing fun, exercise and a chance to improve their ability, all within a team ethic and a safe, friendly and encouraging environment. We currently run 9 teams (2 men’s, 2 girls’ and 5 boys’/mixed teams) that compete in three different Leagues. In the future the club has the ambition to add further teams, so that each age group is represented, and to subsequently improve the facilities down at our local ground near the windmill. We are always looking for more players, volunteers and most importantly of all, more coaches.

We endeavour to deliver quality, age-appropriate coaching to all our teams to support long-term player development and foster confidence and self-esteem. We expect everyone at the club to encourage each other as managers, players and spectators and to promote fair play and respect. We do our best to keep the costs involved to a minimum, so that participation and inclusion are not down to financial circumstances.
