Welcome to Alford.

Children & Youth

The children and youth are very much part of the Alford Community and lots of the local organisations have dedicated activities for them to get involved with.

Encouragement is very much part of the youth activities in Alford, and the whole community champions the achievements of its youngest members.

Uniting

Uniting is the online and physical Youth Group, run by a dedicated team of Youth and mental health workers.

It was started at the height of the Pandemic by The Storehouse Church and Access Centre, to support the Youth of Alford and the surrounding areas.

The core aim of Uniting is to provide a safe online environment where members can access mental health support, have positive role models and have lots of fun!

Combining activities both on and off-line, trips out and challenges, provides a multi-level platform for everyone to get involved in.

You do not have to be a member of the church to attend and you don't have to live in Alford.

So if you are looking for something to do, take part in wacky challenges or learn something new, then Uniting is the place for you!

Alford and District Cricket Club - Children and Youth Teams

Alford and District Cricket Club Youth Teams

Alford Cricket Club

Cricket is not just a great way to keep fit, but it teaches the responsibility of team playing.

The trained coaches at Alford Cricket Club are dedicated to allowing each child to shine and develop their skills, whilst maintaining a sense of belonging.

Alford Cricket Club is very proud to be part of the Alford Community and are lucky to have had multi-generations of the same families being involved with the club.

There are also opportunities for all the family to play and get involved with the adult regular teams and also participate in the Club's social events.

Alford Silver Band

Alford Silver  Band

Brass Tracks, formerly known as the Training Band,  aims  to provide young and older people the opportunity to learn and play a brass instrument.  There's no age restriction to join us!  Even if you have not played an instrument before we would love to hear from you.  Regardless of your experience and ability, we have a programme suitable for you.

How do we recruit?

Most of our recruitment is focused on schools in the local area.  Throughout the year, we actively engage with the younger members of our community.  Not only do they get to experience what a band sounds like, but they also have the opportunity to play an instrument. This strong link with all of the local schools, enables classes and workshops in wind, percussion and brass instruments.

Encouraging children to learn an instrument and watching them develop their skill, perform and feel part of a band is a magical experience.

If you are wanting your child to be involved in music, then Alford Silver Band must be one of your first points of call. If they cannot help you, they will certainly be able to point you in the right direction.

1st Alford Boys Brigade

1st Alford Boys Brigade meet at St Wilfrid's Church Hall in Alford.

We have faith in young people and provide opportunities for children and young people to learn, grow and discover in a safe, fun and caring environment which is rooted in the Christian faith.

There is something for every young person whether it’s camping or kayaking, first aid or five-a-side, music or crafts. Members develop skills, build confidence, make friends, take responsibility and are encouraged to make a real difference in their communities – sharing the values that make us who we are.

Our work with children and young people is made possible thanks to our volunteer leaders who give of their time so generously.
